2012 Fly-In: Sponsors

Earlier this year the US House of Representatives proposed eliminating funding for the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program. It took nearly two decades of tireless advocacy to create this successful partnership and we nearly lost it in the span of a few months. Fortunately, the 6,300 member Teaming With Wildlife (TWW) coalition sprang into action and was able to restore $61.8 million for FY11. Although this was still a 31% cut, the program was not shuttered and efforts to prevent endangered species listings and implement State Wildlife Action Plans will continue, although at diminished capacity. For FY12, the US House of Representatives again proposed deep cuts but our champions in the Senate are working to maintain last year’s level.

The importance of the TWW coalition has never been greater since the inception of the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program. Coalition members have worked hard over the past year to demonstrate to Congress the importance of the program and why this and other conservation programs should not be disproportionately cut. We have heard from congressional staff that the coalition made a difference. We will need to keep up the pressure next year, and the TWW Fly-in is one of our best opportunities to do just that.

Please consider supporting the 2012 TWW Fly-in (February 28th-29th, 2012) as a Gold, Silver or Bronze sponsor so we can ensure Congress understands the need to conserve at-risk fish and wildlife!

For the last ten years, the TWW Fly-in has provided a venue for the wildlife conservation community to speak directly with members of Congress and their staff about our successes and to seek funding for the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program. As part of the Fly-in, the coalition will co-host a reception with the National Invasive Species Council for members of Congress and their staff in the Rayburn House Office Building. We will use the event to present Congressional Wildlife Champion Awards, the Teaming With Wildlife Coalition Leader Award and the State Wildlife Action Plan Partnership Award. We rely on the generous support of great partners like you to underwrite the cost of the reception.

Please consider sponsoring the Teaming With Wildlife Fly-in by pledging your support. As a sponsor, your organization would be acknowledged publicly at the reception, on the TWW website/Facebook, on a news release and in participant packets. Thanks for all that you do to support fish and wildlife conservation.
