September to December 2005 - Message training and communications gear up
- “Train the Messengers” program is activated to encourage uniform and best messages for Teaming with Wildlife campaign in all states (message kit and associated materials distributed to states and coalition partners).
- State Wildlife Action Plans are turned into USFWS October 1.
- Possible press event with Department of the Interior, early October
- State press releases upon individual state wildlife action plan’s approval by USFWS.
- Cultivation of media contacts begins. Designed to cultivate press relationships and raise the profile of State Wildlife Action Plans.
- State Teaming with Wildlife coalitions are re-engaged and strengthened.
- Additional coalition/communications training (likely early November).
January to March 2006 - Campaign Public Rollout
- Campaign begins publicly with a national media event to mark the approval of State Wildlife Action Plans. Simultaneous press conferences occur in states calling for funding for Wildlife Action Plan implementation (likely in late February or March, might coincide with Fly-In Day).
- State agency magazines run cover stories on Wildlife Action Plans.
- Teaming with Wildlife strengthened and expanded coalition is showcased.
- Teaming with Wildlife Fly-In Day – coalition members come to Washington DC in early March to educate Members of Congress on need for funding. Congressional champions call for increased funding.
- National Summary Report on State Wildlife Action Plans released by IAFWA.
Summer 2006 - Media Outreach and Coalition Building
- Advanced media training workshop on state wildlife action plans held at Association for Conservation Information Conference in July (Orlando, Florida).
- Continued public education and coalition building.
