MISSION

The Dickinson County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is designing a standard to help protect Iowa lakes from phosphorus. The SWCD is working to create a cost share program locally for the Iowa Great Lakes, Silver Lake, and Swan Lake Watersheds.

Due to the unique geological landscape that Dickinson County possesses, we have unique water quality concerns. Our water quality is degraded primarily by phosphorus. Since phosphorus travels with sediment to the lake, creating a system that will filter out the nutrients and limit what will get to the lake will help the water quality of our lakes.
