Connecticut Sometime between 1856 and 1860, the town of Hamden leased Enos Brooks’ farm on Brooksvale Avenue to be used as a “poor farm”. In 1860 Enos Brooks died and willed the farm to the town with a life lease for his wife Roxana, for the sum of $100.00 annually. For a period of time between 1860 and 1880 Roxana did not live in the farmhouse. She returned in 1880 and died on the farm shortly thereafter and is buried at Central Burying Ground.
