Friends of Red Rock Canyon
Our Mission is the preservation, protection and enrichment of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Friends members are committed to protecting the environmental integrity of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and helping visitors enjoy their visit responsibly.
With only three BLM staff assigned to Red Rock Canyon, our members volunteer thousands of hours each year assisting with graffiti removal, community volunteer events, trash pickup, trail maintenance, leading hikes, maintaining the Visitor Center grounds, staffing the information desk, monitoring cultural sites and sundry other tasks that need accomplished in the 200,000 acre park.
In addition, Friends provides over $100,000 annually for program support, training for volunteers and staff as well as purchasing necessary equipment and supplies.
Friends also sponsors the following community events: a] work events such as “Make a Difference Day” and “Red Rock Day” which generate over 5,000 hours of volunteer service, b] annual Red Rock Photo Contest for photographers of all ages, c] annual Red Rock Canyon Art Contest for southern Nevada schools and d] our Environmental Education Committee provides bus scholarships to at-risk schools which allow hundreds of grade school children to visit Red Rock Canyon.
