Secretary of Interior Salazar and State & Tribal Wildlife Grants

Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar held a meeting and conference call with conservation groups this afternoon to discuss the future of conservation funding. Naomi Edelson of the National Wildlife Federation (and member of the Teaming With Wildlife coalition steering committee) asked the Secretary about funding for the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program. Secretary Salazar said “the State and Tribal Wildlife Grants program is HUGELY important to the Department”. The secretary reiterated two more times during his response that the program is HUGELY important. Naomi also mentioned the Teaming With Wildlife coalition and how it has 6,300 members.
