Delaware’s Diverse Lands, Waters, and Wildlife

Shorebirds in flightDelaware is rich in wildlife habitats in spite of its small size, from coastal waters and beaches, to extensive tidal marshes and streams, to forested slopes and flatlands. Delaware Bay provides one of the largest migratory shorebird stopovers in eastern North America.

Long confined to northern Delaware and the vicinity of a few cities, rapid residential development has now spread throughout the state, fragmenting habitat and putting our wildlife at risk. Fortunately, if we invest in the Delaware Wildlife Action Plan Today, we can conserve wildlife and natural areas for future generations!

A Powerful Coalition to Conserve our Wildlife Heritage

More than 50 organizations and businesses from across Delaware have come together to spread the word about the Delaware Wildlife Action Plan and to secure the funding it needs for success. YOU CAN HELP by joining the coalition, engaging organizations in your community and urging our elected officials to support the federal State Wildlife Grants Program and legislation providing long-term, dedicated funding for wildlife conservation and related education and recreation.
