Led by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and The Nature Conservancy, the Illinois Teaming with Wildlife Coalition includes wildlife biologists, hunters & anglers, birdwatchers, hikers, nature-based businesses and other conservationists.
Illinois’s Diverse Lands, Waters, and Wildlife
Illinois spans nearly 400 miles from north to south, with species ranging from Ice Age relicts like the Iowa Pleistocene snail on rocky outcrops in the northwestern corner of the state, to bird-voiced treefrogs in 1,000-year old cypress swamps at the southern tip. In between live 12 million people, reaping the benefits of fertile soils, 26,000 miles of streams and rivers, and other natural treasures. Carefully planned development, along with incentives and technical assistance to landowners are keys to conserving this spectacular wildlife heritage. If we invest in the exciting new Illinois Wildlife Action Plan today, we can conserve wildlife and vital natural areas for future generations!
A Powerful Coalition to Conserve our Wildlife Heritage
Almost 100 organizations and businesses from across Illinois have come together to spread the word about the Illinois Wildlife Action Plan and to secure the funding it needs for success. YOU CAN HELP by joining the coalition, engaging organizations in your community and urging our elected officials to support the federal State Wildlife Grants Program and legislation providing long-term, dedicated funding for wildlife conservation and related education and recreation.
