Led by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Audubon New York, the New York Teaming with Wildlife Coalition includes wildlife biologists, hunters & anglers, birdwatchers, hikers, nature-based businesses and other conservationists.
New York’s Diverse Lands, Waters, and Wildlife
New York has a stunning array of natural resources from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean, and the heights of the Adirondack Mountains to the depths of the underwater Hudson Canyon. The state hosts an amazing variety of wildlife from the huge Atlantic right whale to the tiniest salamanders and animals of all sizes in between. However, only 55% of the State’s plants and vertebrates are considered secure according to the New York Natural Heritage Program. If we invest in the New York Wildlife Conservation Strategy today, we can conserve wildlife and vital natural areas for future generations.
A Powerful Coalition to Conserve our Wildlife Heritage
More than 60 organizations and businesses from across New York have come together to spread the word about the New York Wildlife Conservation Strategy and to secure the funding it needs for success. YOU CAN HELP by joining the coalition, engaging organizations in your community and urging our elected officials to support the federal State Wildlife Grants Program and legislation providing long-term, dedicated funding for wildlife conservation and related education and recreation.
