Led by the Rhode Island Division of Fish and Wildlife Resources, the Rhode Island Teaming with Wildlife Coalition includes wildlife biologists, hunters & anglers, birdwatchers, hikers, nature-based businesses and other conservationists.
Rhode Island’s Diverse Lands, Waters, and Wildlife
Rhode Island’s wildlife is remarkably diverse considering that it is the smallest state in the nation and supports the second highest human population density. Rhode Island supports almost 900 vertebrate wildlife species and an estimated 20,000 invertebrates spanning the scenic coastline of Narragansett Bay to the upland forests typical of the New England region. Fortunately, if we invest in the Rhode Island Wildlife Action Plan today, we can conserve this spectacular wildlife heritage and what remains of our vital natural areas for future generations.
A Powerful Coalition to Conserve our Wildlife Heritage
Organizations and businesses from across Rhode Island have come together to spread the word about the Rhode Island Wildlife Action Plan and to secure the funding it needs for success. YOU CAN HELP by joining the coalition, engaging organizations in your community and urging our elected officials to support the federal State Wildlife Grants Program and legislation providing long-term, dedicated funding for wildlife conservation and related education and recreation.
