Wisconsin’s Diverse Lands, Waters, and Wildlife

photo of Great EgretWisconsin sits at the confluence of three great eco-regions—northern boreal forests, eastern deciduous forests and tallgrass prairies. These diverse landscapes provide a home for hundreds of bird species, lake sturgeon, wood turtles, American martens, Karner blue butterflies and more, but Wisconsin’s 556 native wildlife species are increasingly at risk due to habitat loss, invasive species and pollution. Fortunately, if we invest in the new Wisconsin Wildlife Action Plan today, we can conserve wildlife and vital natural areas for future generations.

A Powerful Coalition to Conserve our Wildlife Heritage

More than 200 organizations and businesses from across Wisconsin have come together to spread the word about the Wisconsin Wildlife Action Plan and to secure the funding it needs for success. YOU CAN HELP by joining the coalition, engaging organizations in your community and urging our elected officials to support the federal State Wildlife Grants Program and legislation providing long-term, dedicated funding for wildlife conservation and related education and recreation.
