District of Columbia's Diverse Lands, Waters, and Wildlife
The District of Columbia is not only the nation's capital, decorated with historic monuments and memorials, but also a refuge for nature enthusiasts, fisherman, and wildlife. Within its 68 square miles, the District of Columbia is home to unexpectedly large tracts of forest and national parks, 1000 acres of city parkland, as well as two rivers and several wetlands. If we invest in the District of Columbia Wildlife Action Plan today, we can conserve wildlife and vital natural areas for future generations.
A Powerful Coalition to Conserve our Wildlife Heritage
The District has a wildlife agency and Wildlife Action Plan all its own, but the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife has joined forces with Maryland to build a strong combined coalition. Visit the Maryland page for the latest news and information on the coalition effort.
A coalition of more than 5,900 organizations seeking new and greater funding for wildlife conservation and related education and recreation.
