Georgia
Led by the Georgia Wildlife Resources Division and the Georgia Wildlife Federation, the Georgia Teaming with Wildlife Coalition includes wildlife biologists, hunters & anglers, birdwatchers, hikers, nature-based businesses and other conservationists.
Georgia's Diverse Lands, Waters, and Wildlife
Georgia has a wide variety of habitats ranging from high elevation cliffs to underground caverns, from piedmont granite outcrops to coastal plain pitcherplant bogs, and from headwater streams to the mouth of the Alhambra River. As a result, Georgia is one of the most biologically diverse states in the nation.
Georgia's Wildlife Action Plan identifies 25 different problems affecting wildlife species and habitats including invasive species, altered fire regimes and dam and impoundment construction. Fortunately, if we invest in the action plan today, we can address these threats and conserve wildlife and vital natural areas for future generations.
A Powerful Coalition to Conserve our Wildlife Heritage
More than 300 organizations and businesses from across
Georgia have come
together to spread the word about the Georgia Wildlife Action Plan
and to secure the funding it needs for success. YOU CAN HELP by
joining
the coalition, engaging organizations in your community and urging our
elected officials to support the federal
State Wildlife Grants Program
and legislation
providing long-term, dedicated funding for wildlife
conservation and related education and recreation. The
coalition is also working to build partnerships to support
increased wildlife funding on the state-level. Stay tuned
for more information on this exciting new approach.
